Meet Your Hosts, Desanya & Mick.

Back in the summer of 2011, with Mick out of work after 37 years in sports journalism (and just a little too old to chase a job around the country) he and Desanya moved from South Tampa to Safety Harbor, with a vision: “Seadog Cottages — Tampa Bay’s Premier Bed and Get Your Own Damn Breakfast.”

They brought with them their rescued Border Collies Truman, Mallory and Fausto and Louie, the Golden Doodle. Over a seven-year period, Mick and Desanya have lovingly restored and renovated every inch of the property they like to refer to as  the new Seadog Cottages World Headquarters. No detail has been spared, with attention on comfort always in mind.

The couple loves Safety Harbor, a vibrant coastal town with a lot going on and a small quaint vibe. You'll often find Mick driving through town in his restored vintage truckster or driving the mayor in the seasonal parades the town hosts. They especially enjoy Third Fridays, where Main Street shuts down between 6p and 10p for vendors, artisans, live music and food is enjoyed by locals and tourists alike.

Seadog offers extended-stay, high-end, fully-furnished guest cottages for job relocations, corporate housing, vacations and anyone misplaced by home renovation or construction projects.

Mick adds, "We are in the heart of Downtown Safety Harbor, only blocks from the Tampa Bay waterfront, great restaurants, bars and shops. I drive my “little yellow truckster” in the Safety Harbor Christmas Parade. I walk to the post office, bank and barber shop. And I thank my lucky stars every day that I no longer need to give a hoot what Urban Meyer, or Jameis Winston or Tiger Woods says or does. I truly am lucky and blessed. Life sure does throw a bunch of curve balls, and a few knucklers, but you just keep swinging."
